During the advent season this year Tom and I have been reading the Andrew Peterson devotional behold-the-lamb-of-God, the advent narrative by Russ Ramsey.
I have never done an advent devotional before. When Tom asked if I wanted to read them everyday together, I was thinking OK. (Not sure if this is going to be any good) We started the beginning of December and read the stories of the bible from the creation to where we read today about the shepherds coming to the stable. We read about Abraham willing to offer his son, and Mary hearing from the angel telling her about being the savior's mother.
This year, I have such peace going into Christmas as I reflect and ponder the first Christmas. My problems don't seem so big. I am not sweating the small things. My Christmas is not focused on THINGS, it has been focused on God sending His SON and HIS STORY! What an amazing story it is. No movie writer or producer has ever written one remotely close to the true story of God loving people so much that He sends a Savior for each of us if we only receive the gift.
In this season of giving and receiving gifts I hope that you who are reading this have received the gift God has offered.
Joy to the World the Lord has come!
